How to Print Hang Tags for Business

Whenever you go inside a store, it is but natural to check the products and items in store for you. You inspect the quality, craftsmanship, and uniqueness of each individual item. If there are different products that have the same use, you inspect the materials used in making them, the over-all appearance, as well as the price. A retail item is never complete without a hang tag which comes in different designs, sizes and shapes. You can find hang tags that have simple designs and even intricate details. You can make hang tags as attention grabbing as possible or you can settle with simple designs that complement the over-all look of your hang tags.

Basically, it all depends on your preferences and your objectives for your products. Hang tags are indispensable in retail shops and grocery stores. Products or items need to have hang tags to showcase the price, branding and other pertinent information to your clients or customers. If you are selling fashion items and other similar products, these are especially necessary as these help establish your retail brand. Retail shops always have hang tags that can serve different purposes.

Hang tags can have various uses. Aside from containing all the necessary information about your product, you can make use of hang tags to promote an event, invite people around, inform them of sales, and other activities. There are a lot of things you can do with hang tags. Thus, on the get go, you have to know what your objectives are as well as your target outcomes. You may want to improve your sales and increase your clients, among others. After you identified what you want for your retail brand, work your hang tags around it. Work with your graphic designer to define your design theme.

If you are working on your own, start plotting the design. But do not create the design on your preferred publications software. You can first start on a piece of paper to allow your creativity and imagination to rule. Once you are satisfied with the over-all result, transfer your design to your computer. You can make of publications software, such as Adobe In-Design that can provide you with utmost aesthetic control. As you know, there are design techniques that you can use through this software and other similar programs which can surely grab the attention of others.

If you wish to print hang tags on your own though, always bear in mind the following reminders:

- Invest on full color printing, particularly when you make use of images, whether they are illustrations or pictures. If you have no printer on hand, there are local and even online printers who can offer you affordable printing services. If you wish to have your hang tags printed by professionals, make a search reputable printing companies that can offer you what you need.

- Never forget to print a sample of your hang tag. You may consider this as unnecessary, but here's one thing to keep in mind: there may be some errors that you do not easily notice on your computer screen. Once on print, you can find even the most minute mistakes when it comes to design and other concerns,

- Choose the material - thread, yarn, rope, etc. - that you can use to tie your hang tags to your products. You may want to think outside the box and look for other alternatives. Just make sure that the material you choose would function as expected. As it connects your hang tags with the products, make sure that it is of high-quality. Otherwise, it can just break easily.

Set Your Business Up for Success: How Getting Help will Keep You on Track for the Future

One of the best things you can do for yourself to grow your business and propel yourself forward is to get help. But so many of us keep justifying that we can't afford help. We say things such as: "I'll hire an assistant when I start making more money." Or "I can't hire an assistant until I start making more money."

I can relate to this personally because back in November of 2008 I had $1200 to my name. One of the things I did that led me to a quarter million dollar income at the end of 2009 was to hire some help. I realized I couldn't do it all on my own. Now, I'm not talking about a full-time personal assistant here - though that would have been wonderful. I started small.

I really needed to get my e-zine out, so I invested in 10 hours of help from a Virtual Assistant team. As soon as I had that team in place, I started to look at my business in a completely different way. I found that there were all these other things that I could delegate. And, more importantly, I was also ready when the big opportunities came my way, because I wasn't doing it all alone!

Here's what one of my top clients, Christine Lewicki, founder of O Coaching, had to say about investing in herself, making some huge leaps of faith and getting the help she needed.

"There's my business before I met Lisa and my business after I met Lisa. Before, I was spinning my wheels. I knew I was a good coach, but word of mouth wasn't happening and I didn't have enough clients," Christine says. "I felt that if I didn't grow my business I wouldn't be making the difference I want to make. I wasted a lot of years trying to figure it out on my own. Then I went to a convention and met Lisa and thought, “Here she is - this is exactly what I need.'"

Christine continues, "Lisa gave me the opportunity to work with her and I knew it was time for me to get some help. So I signed up and I barely had enough for the first payment, but it was pretty exciting and super scary. Literally in the next 10 days I got two new clients to fund my investment! The work with Lisa was a mix of spiritual work and technical business strategy to get me to my own juice. And that juice is very sweet for my marketing and awesome for me because deep in my bones I know what I'm all about and what I have to give."

So as I move into 2011, I celebrate doubling my income again last year. Yes, over half million in 2010. And I can tell you without a doubt that having my team, now five people strong, was critical to my success. Especially because I did it working only 3-4 days a week! (Not possible without investing in a team.)

You know how they say you should dress for the job you want? Well, you need to set up your business the way you want to see it in the future. And if you want to break six figures, you can't do it without having a team. There is a lot of power in asking for help. I know it sometimes feels risky to get help, but you need to do it so your business can expand and you can focus on your genius and creativity. You should be delegating the day-to-day, mundane tasks so you can focus on bigger, better - more juicy - things...

Design Your Business to Fit Your Lifestyle

Four and a half years ago I became a mother to a beautiful and sweet girl named Bella. I knew I wanted to be a "mom" but also continue to expand my business. I committed to a three day a week work schedule so I could be mom on Mondays and Fridays and be Lisa Cherney, CEO of Conscious Marketing on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

I took many steps to expand my business in 2009 and ultimately triple my income, and one of these steps was affirming this three days a week work lifestyle.

Think about your life and your business. Affirm and explore and decide on what lifestyle you want to have while balancing everything there is to balance. I work with a lot of entrepreneurs who were like me many years ago, working six days a week, up late at night, not taking vacations. A lot of us are in business for ourselves because we didn't want a boss. But we find that we've traded one boss for a worse boss - ourselves!

One of the things I really needed to do was to affirm what kind of lifestyle I wanted to have. So I did some soul searching and asked, is this three days a week work schedule for me? Maybe I should be working more - maybe that's what's going to help me increase my income.

I realized that working more was not the answer. The answer was that I needed to be smarter. This included questioning the way I was doing things and running my business. It led me to get some needed help for those tasks all businesses must deal with. It led me to think smarter about my approach and how I was selling (and charging for) it and completely overhaul many aspects of what I was doing. Because I need - and want - to stick with my three days a week schedule.

So affirm the kind of lifestyle you want to have and take the steps to make sure you can have it by designing your business to fit your lifestyle. For me it wasn't trading hours for dollars anymore.

This may require steps that can feel like taking big risks, including:

1. Saying "no" to low-end, smaller clients or projects that take a lot of time with little financial reward.

2. Hiring help (virtual assistant, bookkeeper, cleaning service, etc.) even if it appears you can't afford it right now.

3. Raising your prices and/or creating a leveraged group program (or a high-end exclusive program). HINT: This is only limited by your ability to own and communicate the value of your expertise.

4. Hiring a mentor that has achieved the goal you have (even it appears you can't afford it right now.)

5. Slowing down and/or taking a break from the day-to-day of your business in order to steer the ship in a new direction.

For most of us out there, we didn't go into business for ourselves so we could work 100 weeks and never take a day off. We're doing it to have a certain kind of lifestyle. Are you living the lifestyle you want?

It's All in Your Head: Easy Ways to Stay Positive and Boost Your Business

I did a lot of things over the past few years to grow and expand my business, including working for the lifestyle I want, defining my ideal clients and taking care of my physical and mental health.

Part of my mental healthcare included maintaining a positive mindset and it really made a huge difference. It cleared my head and allowed me to really focus on my business. Here are the four things I did to create a constant source of positive energy.

1. No News!
My first rule was no news, no radio and no reading the newspaper. That meant not flipping on the radio in the car. It meant not turning on the TV - even for two seconds - because it seemed like I'd always hear bad news. It's amazing how I always manage to hear about the top news items anyway.

2. Positive Programs and Music
I made sure that I had a lot of positive audio programs and music. This can be any kind of spiritual teacher, guru, coach, leader or author who resonates with you. Buy their audio books or seminars and put them in your iPod or on your computer; rent them from the library and listen to the CDs in your car. Positive, uplifting music is good too. I, myself, like music that includes chanting, affirmations and stuff that's just fun and fancy-free. We all have music that puts us in a good mood - so use whatever works for you.

3. Positive People
I decided I only wanted positive people around me. That meant I needed to not hang out with some of my family and friends. I worked hard to avoid energy vampires - those people who are so negative they just suck the life right out of you. To be honest, for a while I went into kind of a little cocoon. I needed to reconnect with my family and myself and be very purposeful about who I was spending my time with. Also, I attended retreats and conferences that were in a positive, spiritual realm. If that doesn't work for you, find something related to a hobby. For example, if you're into genealogy or you're a stamp collector - whatever gives you energy - put yourself in those environments.

4. Community Connection
I made sure I was connected to community. This is a really big one because we tend to isolate ourselves. As entrepreneurs with our own businesses - most of us in our own homes - it's very easy to isolate. So, find some likeminded groups, like a book club, spiritual group or volunteer activity, and attend regularly.

Taking care of oneself physically and mentally - and keeping a positive mindset - is a great way to keep yourself in the game. You'll be amazed at the renewed motivation you have for doing the things that are not your core passion, but will make your business grow. Working from a cup overflowing helps you float through cold calls, accounting, filing, networking or any other activity that is critical to success but not always top on your list. Once the negativity is gone and you've got positive energy on your side, anything is possible...

Ways to Get your Business Moving

If you suddenly felt your business slowing down, you have to act fast before it is too late. You see, if you do not address the situation immediately, you will be losing income which will be harder for you to make your money roll. If you think you are going through a trough, do not wait until it is too late - invest in a good marketing program that is guaranteed to: 1) Stop the slowdown, and 2) Bring in the sales in the coming days.

If you are looking for a quick way to get your business moving, the key is to finding the people who have already started the buying process. What you have to do is zero in on the segment of the population who are actively looking for what you have to offer. How do you do that? Well, there are many fast and affordable ways to get to your customers who are in the buying process. Here are some ways to get to your target population:

1. Advertise Online. A lot of successful local businesses use online marketing campaigns to increase sales. As the years go by, the use of the Internet has grown exponentially. The Internet offers tremendous opportunity to get your product noticed by using paid search. After all, nearly 85 per cent of all Internet users perform online searches. If people are looking for a specific product or service, they will just search for the product; and if you have paid advertisement, your product or business will show up in the search results. For instance, if your customers are looking for personalized brochures and catalogs for example, your printing company, as well as the printing reviews of your print provider should show up in the search results.

The next challenge is how to show up near the top of the search results because as you may well know, people rarely go down the page or go the other result pages. The strategy here is to advertise using paid search on popular search engines like Google. This will make sure that your business or your products will appear near the top of the search results and receive maximum attention from prospects that are looking for a particular product or service like a professional and credible printing company for example.

2. Makeover your Website. Since we are talking about the Internet, let us talk about your website. If your website has not been reviewed for quite a while, this might be the opportunity to revisit your website and perhaps it needs a makeover. By equipping your website for search engine optimization, your site will go up in the ranking in search results. As stated previously, what you want to do is for your website to show up near the top, if not the top, of the result pages.

3. Give online Yellow Pages a try. By putting your business in an online Yellow Pages, you increase the chances that people who are looking for a particular product or service will chance upon your product. It is like making your presence felt in all available channels. This will cover all aspects of your online marketing strategy. You would definitely want to seize all available online opportunity.

If the going gets tough, the tough gets going. You do not wait for sales to pick up because it might not or it might take a bit more time. You have to be proactive and find ways to jump start your business. What you want to do is to build sales fast through the placement of effective advertising on effective platforms such as the Internet.

Greeting Card Printing for Business

Combining function and promotion in just one marketing material is not that difficult as you imagine it to be. Having a marketing strategy that works can be quite tricky for some who has not experienced carrying out marketing campaign plans. You may opt for the tried and tested ways of promoting a business, but you can also be a little creative. As you probably know by now, competition can be really stiff. If you do not know how to master the art of keeping your business on the front line, then you are up for a big challenge. All your competitors may be thinking the same way, so before you even go for what the usual strategies in business marketing and product promotion, find out how to make a marketing plan that would offer you effective but inexpensive tools and materials.

You may have had used unconventional tools and materials before. Almost always, brochures, posters, and flyers are used to in business marketing. These can be considered a staple.

If you want to try a novel way of marketing your products and services and introducing your business or company, send greeting cards. Your clients and customers - whether existing or potential - would feel special upon receiving birthday greeting cards. If you do not know how to create greeting cards, you can always get greeting card printing services. These greeting card printing services are not that expensive as you may assume. These greeting card printing services can offer you inexpensive prices that are great on your wallet. There are also those greeting card printing services that offer promos and discounts which make a huge difference on your budget.

On the other hand, if you want to go for custom-made greeting card printing, you can always do the whole process on your own.

Here are some pointers that you need to keep in mind:

- Set the kind of image you want to present to your clients or customers. If they get to receive your cards, what impression do you want to have for your business? Do you want to project a professional image or do you want to give the impression that you are a hip business for the young and adults, too. Once you have identified the kind of image you want, go on with your greeting card design.

- Choose the computer application you are going to use. You may be adept at using Adobe Photoshop and Corel Draw, for example. If, on the other hand, you are a design beginner, you can always make use of Microsoft Publisher. This is a user-friendly computer application. It is easy to make and edit designs. You can also have the option of just making use of available pre-designed templates.

- Make sure that you have design elements, such as images and patterns, at your disposal. Scour the internet for patterns and brushes that you can download. Put all these design elements on one file for easy access. If you make use of images, make sure that they are of high-resolution.

- Run a test print for your greeting cards, so you will know if there are any changes you need to make. Once you are done with this, you can already print your greeting cards. If you have time, you can also create your own mailing envelopes.

Do Good and Do Good for Your Business

When I was a junior in high school, my life changed forever. My mom was diagnosed with cancer and I was faced with the harsh reality that life is short. Her cancer shaped the way I live my life, even now two decades later.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and last Sunday I walked with my mom - who has been cancer free for 24 years - in the San Diego American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. It's a noncompetitive walk supporting the American Cancer Society's unique mission to fight breast cancer on four fronts: research, education, advocacy and service programs.

Getting involved in a cause you believe in is not only good for yourself and the cause - it can also be good for your business. Yes, you can do good, and do good for your business, at the same time.

The key to getting community relations to work for you is to leverage your involvement into positive marketing. Do your customers know you donate time and/or money to those activities? Do you get sales because of your involvement? Are you building your brand and/or awareness of your business because of your donations? If you're not sure, then consider some of the following activities:

• Devote a section on your website telling people about your involvement

• Use your website to help raise money and/or volunteers for the causes you support

• If there's an event involved, market your services during it

• Send out press releases detailing your involvement

• Have your logo added to the organization's marketing materials

• Have the organization link to your website

There are lots of benefits when you and your business become involved in the community, including building credibility for you and your business; building relationship with customers; positive public relations; and general goodwill.

Whatever cause you get involved with, make sure it is coming from the heart. People can sense if you're not being sincere, so make sure you truly do believe in the cause if you're going to support it. With any luck, you'll discover your own win-win-win situation...

How to Start a Home-Based Business That Will Succeed Part 2

Figuring out the profit angle and doing a business plan are two important parts of the process of starting a home-based business – two parts that many people starting a home-based business don’t bother with. But if you want to start a home-based business that will succeed, rather than just being another business failure that drained your time and wallet and left you disappointed, you need to pay particular attention to these two steps of the starting a home-based business process.

5. Figure out the profit angle.

This is the litmus test for anyone wanting to start a home-based business. You may have a great talent for something and the skills that enable you to express it, but if people aren’t willing to pay you for the product or service, it won’t work as a business. For each home based business idea, you need to know the answer to two questions:

How much are people willing to pay me for this product or service?
Can I make a sufficient income from that?
Suppose that you, being a creative person, are able to make beautiful quilts. However, because of the time involved, you’re only able to make two quilts per month. You discover that people are willing to pay $200 for each quilt you produce. The math says that you would have, therefore, an income of $400 per month. (Actually less, as there will be expenses related to quilt production, such as cloth and thread, to deduct from this amount.)

An outrageous example, isn’t it? But many people put themselves in a very similar position by starting home-based businesses without considering the profit angle. Business is about profit, and without sufficient profit, you’ll never have enough income to even pay the bills, let alone generate wealth. (For more on creating a business that actually produces income, see Is Your Business Model Broken?)

Go back to your list of home business ideas and assess the profit-making potential of each. If the answer to either of the two questions above isn’t satisfactory, cross that idea for starting a home-based business off your list.

Note that you decide how much income is enough. Many people run part-time home-based businesses that supplement their income and are perfectly satisfied with that. If you are planning to start a home-based business that will provide all of your income, however, you have to research the profit-making ability of your business idea very seriously.

6. Do a business plan to assess the viability of your new home-based business.

Many people are under the impression that working through a business plan is only necessary if you’re going to be looking for a business loan. But the primary reason to do a business plan is to find out if your business idea has a chance of becoming a successful business.

So once you’ve chosen a home-based business idea you’re passionate about, start working through a business plan. My Business Plan Outline will lead you through the process. The research and thinking that you do as you work through the business plan will do more than anything else to ensure that the home-based business you start succeeds.

And if your work on the business plan shows you that your idea for starting a home-based business is not a good idea, shelve it, choose another home business idea and go through the process again. It’s not uncommon to work through part of at least three business plans before you find the business idea that will blossom into the thriving business you want to run.

So if you want to start a home business, ignore the home-business opportunity ads; there are no shortcuts to starting a successful home-based business. By following the six steps outlined above instead, you’ll end up with an idea for a home-based business that truly has the potential to succeed, bringing you the money and the satisfaction you’ve been dreaming of.

How to Start a Home-Based Business That Will Succeed Part 1

The best home-based business is the one you start with your own two hands – not the one in the ad or the one your friend is promoting.

How do you start a successful home-based business? The secret of success is not to stop halfway through the business selection process as so many people do. Follow these six steps to start a home-based business that will succeed rather than just being a drain of your time and money.

1. Access your talents.

Think of your talents as the things you’re really good at. They’re like personality traits. For instance, you may be a very creative person, or a person who’s really good at attending to details or a person with a gift for communicating. Your talents are the base for any successful business venture, including a home-based business.

2. Examine your skills.

These are the things that you can do. The difference between talents and skills is that talents are passive and skills are active. Or, to put it another way, you’re born with talents but you develop skills over time as you learn. For instance, a creative person may have excellent skills for drawing or writing or design. A person who has a talent for attending to detail may have strong accounting or organizational skills.

3. Put your talents and skills together and generate business ideas.

The procedure I’m outlining here will work for starting any kind of business, but as we’re focusing on home-based businesses, the question is, “With these talents and skills, what kind of home-based business could I start?”

Suppose you’re one of those people who has accounting and organizational skills and the talents to back them. Some of the home business ideas you come up with could include:

  • Tax preparation
  • Bookkeeping
  • Business manager
  • Professional organizer

And that’s just four ideas from our limited premise here. When you’re doing this exercise, you, of course, have more than one or two skills, so you’ll find that your list of possible home business ideas is much longer.

Don’t censor yourself as you list home business ideas. List all your ideas at this stage; crossing off choices comes later.

(If you’re having trouble coming up with business ideas, see 7 Sources of Business Ideas to help you get started thinking as an entrepreneur.)

4. Give your business ideas the home-based business test.

The fact is that not all businesses are going to work well as home-based businesses, and some won’t work at all. You are not going to be able to start a manufacturing business in a residential neighbourhood, for example, and any home-based business that involves a lot of clients coming and going is sure to upset the neighbours.

Go back over your list and cross off any business ideas that won’t work as home-based businesses.

If you are intent on starting a home-based business where you actually get to work at home, also cross off any business that could be operated as a home-based business but wouldn’t allow you to work at home. For example, in the short list of sample business ideas above, I would cross off “business manager”, as this would involve off-site work.

Many people who want to start home-based businesses stop here. They’ve come up with an idea for a home-based business that they like and feel they’ll be good at, so they plunge into it at this point.

Don’t make this mistake! If you do, you run an extremely high risk of investing months of your time, energy and money in a losing venture and seeing the home-based business you had such hopes for fail. As I said in the introduction, the secret to starting a home-based business that will succeed is to work through the entire business selection process. The next two steps are critical to your home-based business’s success.

Where to Find Blank Business Cards

Blank business cards can be a valuable asset to any business or individual. Even though most companies order their business cards from a card company that also prints them, it can also be very beneficial to order a supply of blank business cards for your use. Blank business cards can be customized to suit most any situation.

These blank business cards are a great way to customize cards when need be. If you think about it, why would you want to use the same business cards for every situation or for everyone one of your clients? If you have blank business cards on hand, you will be able to customize each one to meet the needs necessary. For example, if you are doing sales work for a client, it would be nice to have something about that on your card; but if you are performing copywriting functions for a client, you may want to mention something to that effect. There are as many different business card ideas as there are "functions" in your business.

Blank business cards can be bought at a number of different places. You will surely be able to find these cards at a local office supply or stationary store. Also, you can order blank business cards from the same company that supplies you with your regular cards. Just ask them to include a couple hundred blanks. This way you will be able to customize and format your own cards to fit your needs at that time. Besides single blanks, which are hard to run through your printer, you should get full 8 1/2 X 11 sheets of cards.

There are many business card software programs that you can buy to help print and customize your own cards. These programs do not cost a lot of money, and can be very beneficial to the growth of your business. Shopping around a little will surely find some blank business cards. These should not be expensive at all. The software to design the blank business cards can be found in many office supply stores or even from your business card printer.

Overlooking the purchase of blank business cards is a bad idea. Even though it may not sound very important, it can surely help to increase your business, as well as your creative spirit. Be sure to ask your printer for some blank business cards the next time you call them.

Great ways to Market your Home Business

Everyone knows that marketing a home business is one of the trickiest things about having one. You have to be sure that you are doing it correctly, because no matter what your business is, chances are good that there are a lot of people who have home businesses that are going to be able to compete with yours. Because the Internet is open to everyone all over the world, you are going to find that it often comes down to people choosing the business that markets themselves the best.

Make Your Mark

So, how can you make your mark on the world and be sure that you are noticed? First of all, you have to have something that no one else does. Chances are good that other people have your same idea, unless you have come up with something that no one has ever heard of before. So, this means that there has to be something about your business that is unique, whether it is in your web site, the way that you do business, or the product that you are offering. You have to be sure that you can easily say that you have something no one else can offer, and that when you say this, you can actually mean it. If you can do this, you are going to be on the right track.

Market, Market, Market

Another thing that you have to be sure to do is to market yourself. No matter what you are doing, there is a place somewhere that is going to be able to market you. You have to rely on yourself and do your own research, and figure out where you can best market yourself. If you are just starting out, a good thing to do would be to search online for your product or service, and see what comes up. See what your competition is, and then figure out what they are doing to market themselves. Then, see where you can get your name out there and how you can make yourself known in the world where you want to be.

Another thing that you have to do is to get creative about how you market yourself. This could even be the thing that sets you apart from all the rest. If you can be sure that you really know what you are doing, you might be able to find your way to the top of something, and you might be able to be more of a success than you ever thought it would be possible for you to be. Get out there and market yourself, in the best way possible, and see if you can bring yourself to the forefront.
